Farmington Hills pianist composer Terrence Lester is a creative and talented musician who has been on the Detroit music scene for over 35 years. Terrence first began his musical career in the early 80’s performing solo piano and on the road as a keyboardist, percussionist and vibist with various bands as well as composing music for local TV shows and jingles.
Terrence demonstrates his unique abilities performing in a variety of musical situations including as a solo pianist, one man band, duo, trio, and quartet.
Whether providing background/dinner/cocktail music, music for listening, or music for dancing or any occasion, Terrence is well versed in many styles of music including Smooth Jazz , Bebop, Blues, R&B, Salsa, Reggae, Latin/Jazz, and Classical.
Terrence knows how to create moods for all occasions, whether playing for a small intimate gathering such as a house party, or a concert entertaining thousands. His music enhances any event. People always say that Terrence's background music usually provides the right atmosphere for any type of event or function.
He has performed with many great national acts over the years including: Gloria Lynn, Wendell Harrison, Les MCcan, Jimmy Mcgriff, Roy Ayers, Alexander Zonjic, Dennis Rowland, Regina Carter, Marlena Shaw, Freda Payne, Earl Klugh, Arthur Prysock, just to name a few.
Terrence is now performing as a solo keyboardist and with his caribbean band The Island Guys a Tropical Steel drum band. He can be seen on a regular basis playing solo piano at Joe Meurs Seafood Restaurant in Bloomfield Hills, Ocean Prime and at Detroit Metro Airport Delta Terminal.
